The Process of Lean Discovery and Inception
Dean Harmon is an accomplished project management, software development, and services leader with over 20 years of experience in high tech software companies. Dean’s career started as a Technical Support Engineer where he was quickly recognized for his accomplishments and ability to both lead and execute. He received several promotions including Quality Manager and Service Account Manager while driving division objectives in quality and process improvement where he became recognized as a leader that could enact change, drive results, and also create and drive customer success. During his career, Dean led the services organizations for two companies as a Director of Customer Care and Director of Consulting, Education, and Support. In the latter, he built a $16M consulting pipeline in 12 months and delivered customer certification training world-wide.
Mid-career, Dean made a change to focus on software development where he has had increasingly responsible roles including Director of Quality Assurance, Director of Engineering, Director of Release Management, and Director of Integrated Product Development as he managed division quality assurance, sustaining engineering, and project management. He eventually directed the product development lifecycle process for a $1B software company. Dean was promoted twice as he directed engineering operations and the PMO for a fast growing (+30% YoY) $200M SAAS company.
Dean earned a B.S. in Management of Information Systems from BYU in 1992 and has several certifications including Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Certified Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe 4 Certified Advanced Scrum Master, SAFe 4 Agilist, and a Project Management Professional (PMP).
Currently, Dean is a Principal with Veracity Solutions where he leads the Agile Practice and manages software development consulting engagements with companies across the nation and has served as corporate coach in multiple companies on several change initiatives. He has a strong technical aptitude with exceptional interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and unique ability to bridge organizations for more effective execution. Fundamentally, he believes in the individual and the collective strength of a team, and that if we treat one another with respect and hold ourselves accountable, nothing will stand in our way of success.
