The Agile Mindset
I help software development organizations apply Agile/Lean approaches for delivering what their customers need, rapidly and easily. Working primarily in the Greater Toronto Area, I serve clients across North America and Europe. Recent clients have included RBC, Scotiabank, Trader Corporation, the CBC, Acision, D2L, PrismHR, BMC Software, Eastman Chemical, Architech, Oracle, Software AG, CPP Investment Board, 411.ca, VFA, and Autodesk Media & Entertainment.
My clients are software development and IT organizations that invest in expert guidance on transforming to Agile or want help improving/fixing their Agile implementation. I work with managers, developers, testers, product managers, project managers, and designers. I also coach at several levels of management and provide leadership and executive coaching. I help people pick up where Scrum left off, especially supporting the oft-neglected human and technical sides of Agile development.
I work with small companies as well as R&D organizations numbering hundreds of people, and regularly teach at Fortune 500 companies. My popular workshops (all experiential) include Leading Toward the Agile Mind-Set, Grow A Solid Agile Team, and Agile Engineering. I also conduct Agile readiness assessments and health checks, and facilitate strategy, chartering, and retrospective sessions.
My 2015 book, “The Agile Mind-Set,” explains how to make Agile processes work. My 2012 book, “The Human Side of Agile,” is a practical how-to guide for team leaders and managers who wish to grow extraordinary teams. I write quarterly for projectmanagement.com and have published articles in other prestigious journals. I’ve chaired the Coaching and Collaboration tracks at Agile 20xx three times. I hosted two virtual trainings (in the form of teleconferences), “Individuals and Interactions” in 2013 and “Packing List for Your Agile Journey” in 2014. I co-host the annual “Influential Agile Leader” transformational event with Johanna Rothman.
