Speaker FAQ

How will the submissions be evaluated?

We evaluate for the following components::

  • How well does the outline match the presentation track for which it was submitted?
  • How well organized is the outline?
  • Is there enough detail or too much detail in the outline?
  • Does the outline feel like it will support 45 minutes of discussion and Q&A with the audience?
  • Is the speech interactive or lecture style?
  • Does the proposed topic have a new/fresh insights or is it covering familiar ground?
  • Topic relation to theme:
  • Is this paragraph well formed and offer different insights than provided in the outline?
  • Scores are complied for each speaker and averaged to give us a ranking for each presentation track.

When will the submissions be selected?

We will finalize our decisions and let you know by Jan. 11th, 2024or shortly after (this will allow you and the Planning Committee to enjoy the holidays!).

OMG! You asked me to speak! Now what?

You will receive complimentary conference registration (i.e.: you don’t have to pay to attend the conference).

  • We have a dinner the night before the conference – that you’re invited to attend – free of charge. This event is a chance for speakers to connect and discuss their topics with each other. We’ll also give you some basic information about the next day – like when you’ll be speaking, where the speaker’s room is, where your presentation location is – and who’s your volunteer “buddy”.
  • We hope you’ll join us – but this is not a required event if you are a presenter.

Day of the Event!

  • We’ll meet with you in the speaker’s room. We’ll walk you to your presentation room – so you can be familiar with the setup and make sure all the technology is working according to plan.
  • We have a breakfast buffet – so don’t worry about rushing to grab breakfast before the conference. We’ve got you covered.
  • We also provide lunch. We’ll be sending you information about the lunch so you can let us know if you have any special dietary needs.

After the event … you made it!

  • We’ve found value in gathering after the event. During this time we’ll share beverages (adult or non-adult) and look back on the day. (Yep, we do a debriefing and retro!) What went well, what didn’t go well – what do we want to do next year?
  • This is also a great chance for attendees to spend a little more time with you – and go a little bit deeper into your topic. We hope you’ll join us – but this is not required if you are a presenter.
